Inside – The First Social Film
With transmedia projects finally gaining a bit of momentum after years of hype about the all-inclusive, cross-media form of storytelling being the “way forward” with increasingly tech enabled and connected audiences; it’s good to see more and more projects immerging out of development stages and into something concrete.
INSIDE, directed by D.J. Caruso marks Intel and Toshiba’s partnership coming to fruition, with the release being hailed as the first social film ever to be produced. The film features a young woman, played by Emmy Rossum, who is trapped in a room with a Toshiba Satellite p775 laptop and an untraceable Internet connection. In order to get out she needs to chat with her social networks to plan escapes. Fans, consumers, or saviors (however you want to call them) can tweet and post Facebook messages to the lead character to try and help her.
